Alysha was first introduced to yoga over ten years ago. Suffering from childhood migraines brought on by stress, her daily yoga practice allowed her a freedom that she never knew existed. Her liberation led her to complete a 200 hr certification to teach yoga, which is recognized by Yoga Alliance. She began a meditation practice at the age of eight with her grandmother, and this practice continues to be a loving ritual each morning. Alysha’s passion is to share her love of learning with others, especially promoting self-healing and self-discovery. She continues her yoga studies with a variety of teachers in the Ashtanga style, which is her personal practice style, as well as other yoga styles such as Vinyasa Flow, White Lotus, Kundalini, Anusara, and Iyengar.
Alysha initially studied Thai yoga massage to enhance her knowledge of adjustments for her clients, yet had many requests for just the Thai Yoga Bodywork. She trained with Tanya Boigenzahn at the Yoga Center in the Twin Cities completing a 100 hr. certification in Thai Yoga Bodywork and will be finishing her 200hr certification this fall. She has become a dedicated member of Thai Healing Alliance. She has also been fortunate to start studying with Janice Vitavec at Spirit Winds School of Thai Massage, and is looking forward to continuing her training in Thailand with Pichest Boomeshes winter of 2009.
She has added other energetic modalities to her treatments by becoming certificated in first and second degree Reiki with Reiki master and teacher, Barbara MacKay Simmonds, M.A.. Alysha continues to travel to study Reiki, Ayerveda and Healing Touch to develop more energy work techniques for her wellness clients.
While completing her BA in Theatre, Alysha fell in love with the expressive art of bellydancing. She also studied and performed traditional ballet, jazz and improvisational dance for more than ten years. After studying the FatChanceBellydance American tribal bellydancing DVD's for several years, she studied with and became influenced Eman, Cassandra, Darshan, Sera and Tempest. She is currently studying tribal bellydancing with Teresa Phillips of Tsingani at World Rhythm Dance Studio. She has been teaching bellydancing and henna classes in honor of her attraction to Middle Eastern culture and art.
All of her gratitude goes out to the following master teachers, who have greatly influenced her practice and teaching style in all of the healing arts Alysha performs: Seane Corn, Shriva Rae, Dharma Mittra, David Swenson, John Friend, Mary Beth Nehl, Beryl Bender Birch, Ganga White, Pichest Boomeshes, among the other teachers mentioned upon.
May you be happy.
May you be free.
OM Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.
